Contact Form 7 6.2 Release Candidate

We will publish Contact Form 7 version 6.2 in a few weeks. This is a major update, so we are releasing a release candidate to let you test 6.2 in advance. Join the RC testing and, if you find any bugs, please report them in the support forum or, if you are familiar with GitHub, on our GitHub repository. We plan to release 6.2 in early October.

Download 6.2-rc from the plugin page (Go to the Previous Versions section, select 6.2-rc, and download). Contact Form 7 6.2 requires PHP 8.3+ and WordPress 7.1+.

SWV 2

Contact Form 7 6.2 bundles version 2 of Schema-Woven Validation. The major changes in SWV 2 are:

  • The Composer packages for PHP are newly available.
  • The scope name of the npm packages has changed from @contactable to @rocklobsterinc.
  • We have redesigned SWV 2 as a lean collection of validation rules. Unnecessary gimmicks, such as middleware, have been dropped.

Major changes

  • SWV: Introduces Composer packages for PHP: SWV v2.0.7, FormDataTree v2.0.7, and Rock Lobster’s PHP function library v1.0.6
  • SWV: Upgrades npm packages for JavaScript: SWV v2.1.2, FormDataTree v2.1.3, and Rock Lobster’s JS function library v1.0.5
  • SWV: Updates the SWV Schema version to Contact Form 7 SWV Schema 2026-09-20.
  • Admin: Adds the Dashboard submenu.
  • Admin: Overhauls the list table in the Contact Forms menu screen.
  • Admin: Hides the shortcodes in the contact form editor screen.
  • Admin: Improves the Brevo tab panel in the contact form editor.
  • Admin: Makes all external links in the editing screen target="_blank".
  • Adds “Exit if accessed directly” logic to the begining of all PHP files.
  • Drops the deprecated includes/shortcodes.php file.
  • REST API: Returns the appropriate status code based on whether the requester is logged in.
  • Special mail-tags: Applies allowlisting to user-related SMT names.
  • Replaces wp_check_invalid_utf8() to wp_scrub_utf8().
  • Adds readonly and type declaration to object properties.
  • Makes all link URLs to contactform7.com website not translatable.
  • New action hook: wpcf7_dashboard_setup
  • New action hook: wpcf7_manage_custom_column
  • Raises the minimum required versions to WordPress 7.1 and PHP 8.3.
